A tribute to our car

I feel like it's appropriate to give some attention to the trials and tribulations of our Nissanmobile...
Looking for a car the first few days after landing in Christchurch...we were misdirected to a junkyard auction. Cheap cars, though.

We endured 8-hour marathon car shopping days walking up and down the main car lot road.

At last, on day 3, Richard withdrew a ton of cash and we picked up a great hatchback car. All the features a safety-conscious parent would want...4wd, dual air bags, 1997, low mileage.

Unfortunately, there was not enough gas in the car to make it to the gas station. So there we were, abandoning our new car on the sidewalk to go search for gas.

It all worked out though.

No kayakmobile is complete withouth roofracks. So we picked up some really sturdy driftwood from the beach, tied on with used bike tires, and we're ready to go! Here we are at the Hollyford River in Milford Sound area.

The car finally in its full glory. Real roof racks and a bunch of boats on top!
